The village of Manthes was built around this priory, now owned by the bishopric, founded by the Benedictines of the Cluny order in the 11th century. The monks and their serfs cleared and drained the surrounding area to build the first houses. Today, the magnificently preserved priory boasts architecture predominantly influenced by the early Middle Ages. During the last two weeks of September, the priory hosts an exhibition by renowned contemporary artists: painters, sculptors, ceramists, engravers...
