ATELIER SAINT-JEAN DAMASCÈNE
Monastery in Saint-Jean-en-Royans housing workshops and a school of sacred art around the icon, the fresco and the mosaic.
An exceptional site and discovery. In a wilderness setting, this unlikely Orthodox monastery, founded in 1965, houses a permanent exhibition of sacred icons and two chapels, one Romanesque and frescoed, the other wooden, built using traditional Ukrainian techniques. Workshops and a sacred art school on icons, frescoes and mosaics run by iconographers, fresco artists and mosaicists, some of them disciples of Father Zenon. Inspiring.
