Amnesty International, an international NGO founded in 1961, conducts international campaigns for the release of prisoners of conscience, the abolition of torture and the death penalty, the fight against political disappearances and assassinations and all other forms of human rights violations. The association thus participates in information campaigns and intervenes with the governments concerned. Amnesty International's mission extends to denouncing all new human rights violations and in particular the poignant situations experienced by migrants in the Mediterranean. The Drôme section twinned with the Ardèche was founded in 1977.
