CASTLE OF THE SIRES OF FAUCIGNY
Castle of the XIIIth century, the oldest in Savoy and Haute-Savoie, last witness of the network of fortifications established by Peter of Savoy.
A restored gem in the heart of Bonneville. Built in the 13th century, it is the oldest castle in Savoie and Haute-Savoie. It is also the last remaining example of the network of fortifications built by Pierre de Savoie. Over the years, the château des Sires de Faucigny has been transformed from a fortified castle into a seigniorial castle and then into a state prison. It is now coming back to life after major renovation work, which should be completed in 2024 with the opening of a museum of the Resistance and Deportation and of Faucigny.
