This bridge decorated with flags was doubled in 2010 by another asymmetrical cable-stayed structure.
The Arve River and the town of Bonneville are closely linked and it is easy to see that part of the town's development, as early as the Middle Ages, was due to the construction of a bridge linking the two banks of the valley. If a wooden bridge is attested at the beginning of the 13th century, it was not until the 17th century that the first stone bridge was built. The current bridge was built between 1862 and 1866 by the engineers Deglin and Vivenot. It was renamed "Pont de l'Europe" in 1989 during the visit of Valéry Giscard d'Estaing in campaign for the European elections. Often saturated by road traffic, this bridge decorated with flags was doubled in 2010 by another structure with asymmetrical stays.
