GRANITE TRAIL

Combloux is a charming town in the French Alps. Among the town's tourist attractions is the Graniteurs trail. This trail, about 1 km long, is located at the entrance to Combloux from Sallanches. It passes through a forest where you can still see huge boulders deposited some 15,000 years ago when the glacier retreated. The trail was created in collaboration with the Office National des Forêts, Espace Mont-Blanc, the Département and the commune. It guides walkers in the footsteps of the "graniteurs", the men who worked hard to extract granite from the quarries. Thematic panels, a reconstructed forge and an exhibition of small-scale equipment provide a better understanding of their trade. The trail can be accessed freely or on guided tours from the 2nd bend in the Plan Mouillé ZAC. Please note that the trail can be slippery in winter, so good footwear is recommended.
