MOULIN DU CHÂTELET
One of the oldest oil mills in Haute-Savoie is still in operation thanks to the work of Mr. Longet. On the edge of the small pond, its two large paddle wheels have been working on stone wheels since the 17th century. The miller always presses the nuts to make oil out of them. In the past, the grain was also pressed into flour and thanks to three additional wheels the mill even became a sawmill; two of them are still visible, in place under the saw mechanism. Today, only walnut oil is still pressed there, in February and March. Provided you make an appointment in advance, it is possible to see miller Pierre Longet at work in this old mill still in working order and to buy a good, freshly pressed golden oil. The rest of the year, the places can only be visited from the outside
