CASTLE OF FAUCIGNY
This fortified castle overlooking the heights of Faucigny was the cradle of the house of Faucigny.
The ruins of this fortified castle overlooking the heights of Faucigny date from the 11th century. It was the cradle of the House of Faucigny. Destroyed in the 15th century, only a few beautiful remains remain today in a site redeveloped by the commune. To the north on the gentle slope, the houses of the village were grouped together under the shelter of this fortress. According to the traces that remain, it consisted of a very large central block and a first surrounding wall. A second wall started from the castle and enveloped the village. A drawbridge allowed access.
