THE PARC DES JARDINS DE HAUTE-SAVOIE
A unique garden with irises, peonies, herbs, cosmos, seasonal vegetables and fruit, sculptures, games...
The story
In 2009, the Fier-et-Usses community of communes and the Usses-et-Bornes CDRA launched an innovative, ambitious project: the Parc des Jardins de Haute-Savoie. 54 communes join forces to create a collective ephemeral work of art near the lake at La Balme-de-Sillingy. These Gardens of Haute-Savoie demonstrate the Fier-et-Usses region's determination to develop environmentally-friendly tourism that promotes a natural and cultural heritage accessible to all. Some forty miniature gardens embody the landscapes of the Savoyard foreland. They are created by numerous volunteers, municipal workers and elected representatives, who invest their time each year to offer an unusual walk through the Rhône, the Pont de la Caille and many other heritage features, represented in plant and flower versions.
The garden
Discover irises, peonies, aromatic plants, cosmos... But also a kitchen garden filled with seasonal fruits and vegetables. Unique in France is the magnificent collection of Asian cherry blossom trees! Once a month, the park invites visitors to a nature event in the form of a lecture, workshop, tour... Children will be delighted with 2 games: a treasure hunt or a treasure hunt! And to reveal even more of itself, the park can be invaded by artists for the pleasure of intermingling scents, sounds, flavours and sculptures, and thus multiplying "eco-artistic" cuttings!
