THE HOLY TRINITY CHURCH
Typical Baroque church immortalized by English painter Turner in 1802 in Les Contamines-Montjoie.
Less well known than Notre-Dame de la Gorge, the church was immortalized by the English painter Turner in 1802. The church is typically Baroque, with its ornate facade and square bell tower based on the tower of the former château. Built in 1759 by a Piedmontese mason on the ruins of the Château de Montjoie, it houses three Baroque altarpieces, and its steeple and spire - originally covered in tin-plated tinplate - have lost their golden lustre since the roof was replaced by stainless steel in 1976. A serene atmosphere.
