THE LIEUTENANT'S HOUSE
The oldest fortified house in the valley, dating from 1480, has become an interpretation centre for mountain agriculture, after renovation: La Maison du Lieutenant, in Servoz. This building with its singular architecture bears witness to a rich mountain agricultural heritage by hosting within its historic building a permanent exhibition - "Mountain agriculture, the heart of the territory" -, and a temporary exhibition, an animated model of the reliefs, ancient objects, etc. Playful and colourful modules explaining mountaineering or the breeds of cows "those legged mowers" to tell the story of the Savoyard's relationship with the mountains over the last 20,000 years. Fascinating! Don't miss the seasonal workshops such as this initiation to basketry by making your own traditional basket from the local plant: wicker. At the meeting of the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc valley territory.
