OUCHE SECTOR
Area offering more than 50 km of trails through the forest, open to all levels of skiing.
The domain offers more than 50 km of slopes through the forest, open to all levels of skiing: downhill skiing, surfing, telemark, freestyle and speed-riding. Skiing in Les Houches means following in the footsteps of the champions Ivica Kostelić, Bode Miller and Didier Cuche. If Chamonix welcomed the first Olympic Winter Games in 1924, the city is grateful to its neighbour Les Houches for owning the famous descent of the Arlberg-Kandahar, the flagship event of the Alpine Skiing World Cup, ironically nicknamed the "Green" of Les Houches - a long black downhill run - which has hosted the competition every year since 2004, before stopping in 2012 and returning to the World Cup calendar since 2016 (in 20120: 8 and 9 February). A beginner's area is available at the arrival of the Prarion gondola lift (with a sled area) and on the Bellevue plateau, as well as a rather challenging snowpark near the Shuss des Dames chairlift at Voza Pass. In summer, the Prarion gondola lift and the Bellevue cable car both operate to take the many hiking trails towards Tête de Charme or Bionassay, with a mountain bike trail for freeride enthusiasts.
