VULLI

Located in Rumilly in Haute-Savoie, the Vulli company, labelled "Je joue français", has been active in the world of toys and childcare since 1945. Motherhouse of the famous Sophie the Giraffe for more than 50 years and owner of the Klorofil brand, she designs and creates products adapted to the different stages of children's development.

History. It all began in 1860 with the creation of Delacoste, a company specialising in rubber toys. In parallel, in 1945, Joseph Vullierme created the Etablissements Vullierme, a manufacturer of cut and stamped metal parts. Two years later, it launched the first mechanical toys under the first registered brand name: Jouets Mont-Blanc. In 1954, it began to manufacture increasingly technical items: tanks, trucks, remote-controlled cranes and trains. On May 25, 1961, Sophie, the famous giraffe, was born at the headquarters of Delacoste, rue Nazareth in Paris. It will sell more than 50 million copies and is now present in more than 75 countries. In 1964, following a fire that damaged almost the entire Etablissements Villierme factory, new premises were rebuilt (8,000 m²) in Rumilly (74). In 1975, it was the turn of the other bestseller, the Magic Tree, to appear on the market. In 1976, Vullierme created its second registered trademark: Créations Vullierme. In 1980, Masson and Delacoste were acquired by Vullierme: the Vulli brand was created, and in 1989, Vullierme was acquired by the Alain Thirion group and became Vulli.

In December 2018, Sophie the giraffe's manufacturer changed ownership. Serge Jacquemier hands over his position to Eric Rossi.

The products. Sophie the giraffe, still made in Rumilly thanks to 14 manual operations, has been an essential toy for over 50 years. The Sophie la giraffe brand covers all of baby's needs at every moment of the day and at every stage of his development: rest, meals, bath, teething ring, play area, etc. The Klorofil brand revisits the Magic Tree, which includes a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and elevator. This famous tree, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2015 and manufactured in the French factory, allows children to reproduce everyday scenes and develop their imagination. Finally, Vulli has also developed Al'Thir, a small camel that can be chewed without moderation.

Employment. Around 100 employees (at Vulli, 75% of the workforce is female) and around 30 million in turnover.
