VIUZ-FAVERGES CHURCH
This building is composed of a Romanesque choir of the XIIth century decorated with capitals in green molasse decorated with water flowers.
The history of the Church of St. John the Baptist in Viuz dates back to the early Christian era: the remains of a Roman building from the 1st century and three churches from the 6th, 8th and 10th centuries can be seen in the "archaeological crypt". The present building consists of a 12th century Romanesque choir with green molasse capitals decorated with water flowers and baroque stalls from 1696. The baptismal font also dates from the 17th century, while the nave and side aisles are in neoclassical style. The whole forms an exceptional ensemble unique in Savoie.
