FAVOURITE LORDS DUNGEON
This keep allowed the Lords of Faverges to control the passage between the county of Savoy and the county of Geneva.
The round keep of the castle of Faverges dominates the town. Built in the 13th century, it allowed the Lords of Faverges to control the passage between the county of Savoy and the county of Geneva, because Faverges was a strategic crossroads on the road leading from Strasbourg to Turin, via Geneva. From its summit, the view is panoramic and allows you to admire the castle, the town (five minutes away on foot) and the grandiose landscape of the plain and the mountains of the Bauges Regional Natural Park and the Bornes massif. Restored a few years ago and listed as a Historic Monument since 1991, the country guides of the association "Friends of Viuz-Faverges" offer a free visit with a document, in summer, and a guided tour of about one hour, from December to March, every Wednesday at 3pm and all year round by reservation. Children as well as adults will be caught up in the history of the Donjon des Seigneurs de Faverges!
