ST. MAURICE CHURCH
A church classified as a historical monument with a finely sculpted baroque and a typical bulbous bell tower, located in Thônes.
Built in the late 17th century, Saint-Maurice church has been listed as a Monument Historique since 1923, for its finely sculpted and painted Baroque altarpiece, the largest in Haute-Savoie. Its typical bulbous bell tower is a symbol of the Savoyard Baroque period; it houses four bells, two of which were cast by the historic Paccard brothers (see Saint-Jorioz). Damaged between the French Revolution and the bombings of the Second World War, it has undergone many restorations to date.
