TOWER MANSION
Manoir de la Tour, a Gallay family home in Thônes.
A walk along the left bank of the Nom to relive Jean-Jaques Rousseau's meeting, in July 1730, with the young Mademoiselle de Gallay - the noble family of Thônes -, mentioned by the author in Les Confessions under the title "L'idylle des cerises". Driving to the hamlet of Le Tour to the manor house of the same name, we are seduced by the charm of this 17th century family home of the Gallay family, which actually received the writer for lunch as a thank you after his help during the crossing of the horses on the ford of the Fier (near Dingy). His visit is combined with that of the Espace Muséal de Thônes (in the capital) every Monday in July and August. An ideal time to discover the beautiful orchard and see the famous cherries ripen!
