LABYRINTHE – JARDIN DES CINQ SENS®
Remarkable garden, offering visitors four places of reflection, meditation and wonder on the theme of the five senses.
It is on the site of one of the castle's former vegetable gardens, the plan of which has been preserved with its paths and ponds, that this garden was created in 1986 and classified as "Remarkable" in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture. This garden, with its plant walls composed of hornbeam and apple trees, offers visitors four places of reflection, meditation and wonder on the theme of the five senses: in the taste room, the apple trees take incongruous shapes, while the vegetables are wisely aligned, the scent room lets us guess its perfumes and the touch room invites us to caress it, the color room irresistibly attracts the eye... A white peacock pigeon lands in the cloister, the sound of water and birdsong awaken our last sense, hearing. In total, no less than 1,500 varieties of plants are on display here. In this newfound paradise, everyone finds happiness: admiration for the work accomplished by exceptional gardeners, dazzlement in front of this living picture, deep feelings of appeasement and vitality. And above all, everyone finds simple gestures such as smelling the perfume of a flower, observing nature in its smallest details, sketching life in a way. For children, a discovery questionnaire - different according to age - allows them to discover the garden and their senses. A highly recommended visit for the whole family.
