AUGUSTINIAN MONASTERY
Convent built by John II at the beginning of the 14th century with a cloister with beautiful galleries, the hall of the chauffoir and the chapter house.
This convent was founded by Jean II in the early 14th century, when Crémieu was one of the Dauphins' favorite residences. The priory is home to the hermits of Saint Augustine. The conventual buildings house a kitchen with a monumental fireplace, the monks' living quarters, a chapter house and a refectory. The cloister, a place of meditation, features beautiful galleries under a slate roof. Note the heart, symbol of the Augustinians, and the monumental entrance gate, a superb work of wrought ironwork with French MH classification.
