LAWFUL DOOR
Monumental door with a remarkable wooden balcony in Crémieu, main entrance of the city in the 14th century, to discover.
Mentioned as early as 1392, this monumental gate was the main entrance to the town in the 14th century and was reinforced in the 15th century. Preceded by a moat through which the river Vaud flowed, it has preserved some defensive elements and in particular, as a crown, corbels which supported a "hourd", a wooden balcony protruding from the top of the tower, the floor of which was pierced with openings allowing the throwing or shooting of weapons. Also to be seen: the Clock Tower and the Square Gate, the Visitandine Convent, the Dovecote House, the Saint-Antoine Chapel, the ramparts...
