The museum is located on the site of the last artificial silk spinning mill, closed in 1989, in a region that was the cradle of this invention at the end of the 19th century. The museum traces the history of 60 years of viscose. Visitors discover the story of the invention of artificial silk, the manufacturing process, work in the factory, the life of workers in the city and the history of the Grenoble factory, which, from 1927 to 1989, welcomed men and women of over 40 nationalities.
