L’ESCALIER
Excellent value for money cuisine in a restaurant with terrace and exceptional cellar in Grenoble
To have the spirit of a staircase is to lack repartee and to be a little late in finding the right words. In the case of l'Escalier, a local institution that has stood opposite the Musée de Grenoble for over 40 years, words can be hard to find to describe a place that is both timeless and yet still very much of its time. Alexandre Aymard continues to keep alive the spirit of l'Escalier instilled by Alain Girod and his famous Cuillère menu, which contributed to the house's reputation with 2 cuillères presenting 2 different versions of the same dish in a parade of 7 plates. A long-standing Chartreuse ambassador, l'Escalier also boasts a fine wine cellar.
