NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL
Discovery of the Notre-Dame Cathedral through the baptistery, to admire the remarkable gothic stone ciborium.
The cathedral dates back to the 13th century, although the name Notre Dame is mentioned as early as 902. In 1885, it received a hideous cement veneer. Fortunately, it has recovered its former appearance. Work began in 1986, when the baptistery was discovered during the construction of the tramway. In the choir, one can admire a remarkable flamboyant gothic style ciborium made of Voreppe stone painted in red and dating from 1455. Abbé Henri Grouès, better known as Abbé Pierre, was appointed curate at Grenoble Cathedral in 1942.
