LOUIS XI CASTLE
Medieval castle, remnant of the castle of Bocsozel au Mottier in the 13th century, and dedicated to music, hosting the Berlioz Festival.
A castle dedicated to music. Remains of the castle of Bocsozel in Le Mottier (XIIIth century) with historical reconstitutions during the heritage days. The medieval building was destroyed on the heights of the city during the Wars of Religion. The castle that stands now was rebuilt in the 17th century and redesigned in the 19th century to house a religious congregation. A medieval brick tower still remains. It is here, for the most part, under the dome of the inner courtyard, which has been converted into an auditorium, that the Berlioz Festival takes place.
