CHÂTEAU DE MONTBEL
This castle is located at 948 meters above sea level, with a view of the Entremonts and the mountains.
Of the castle of Montbel, only a few ruins remain. Its dominant position above the gorges of Frou, at 948 meters above sea level, gave it a view of the Entremonts and the mountains, well installed on its promontory. Second fief of the lords of Entremont, this castle is also called castle of the Government. It was destroyed in 1633, on the orders of Richelieu, bought back in 1694 by the Carthusian monks who rebuilt it and finally, following the French Revolution, became the property of the Government and slowly fell into ruin as it was abandoned.
