How many generations have passed through the Smocking Dog? Opened 30 years ago in Vieux Lyon, this pub has seen Lyonnais and tourists in search of an authentic English pub. Here, Franco-British friendship is celebrated, even during the famous "crunch" between the two rugby nations. The typical decor, with a reading corner at the entrance, a large, busy bar and a quieter room at the back, adds to the atmosphere. Lyon's English speakers make no mistake, and the waitresses always have an accent. A great place to brush up on your English without (or with...) pressure. Crazy atmosphere on match nights, or when you can win shooters at the Tuesday night quizzes, and live music.
