A museum presenting the history of Fourvière and the Lyon church through a rich collection of sacred art objects.

Housed in the Maison Carrée on Fourvière hill, the museum's rich collection of sacred art objects explores the history of Fourvière and the Lyon church. Magnificent works of goldsmithery by the greatest masters in the field, religious textiles, objects of Lyonnais piety and documents relating to the construction of the basilica. Fourvière has been a spiritual center since Antiquity, as recent excavations beneath the building have uncovered the remains of a Roman temple. A truly surprising museum on an exceptional site.
The Tribute to Donors exhibition runs until the end of December 2024.

Le thème de ce musée n'incite pas à s'y rendre. Pourtant, la visite est riche d'enseignement. Grâce à une bénévole, j'ai pu participé à une visite guidée de l'espace. Cette dernière nous raconte tout un tas d'anecdotes sur les différents objets présents et attirent notre attention sur la rareté ou les détails de certains éléments. Sans elle, nous passons à côté de pièces dont l'attrait nous semble peu important. Elle donne vie à ce musée et c'est ce qui manque souvent. Un grand merci et bravo.
