The first festival took place at the end of the 19th century, on the occasion of the inauguration of the statue of Georges-Antoine Simonet who brought muslin to Tarare. The multicolored muslin sails float in the city, street entertainment, artistic events follow one another, a parade of floats and a thousand extras closes the festivities.
