VIADUC
A structure with arches to allow the railroad to cross the Turdine river, with a view from the chapel.
At the western entrance of the city, the railroad enthusiasts will not fail to admire the impressive viaduct in cut stone. A viaduct that is almost 400 m long (373 m to be exact) and 26 m high, built between 1866 and 1868 during the construction of the Lyon-Roanne line. Its 20 arches allow the railway to span the Turdine river, but also - with an arch wider than the others - the old national road 7 which crosses Tarare. Nice view of this work of art from the Notre-Dame-de-Bel-air chapel.
