ST. MAYOL'S CHURCH
The most seen church in France, dedicated to Mayol, with a miraculous fountain, in the ascent, which gives sight to a blind man.
Without doubt the most seen Romanesque church in France. Indeed, all motorists who take the A7 motorway have been able to admire this church, which is part of the Cluny Order movement. It was around 960 that a small community of Benedictine monks settled in Ternay under the patronage of Mayeul. The construction of the church will not begin until the second half of the eleventh century. A church dedicated to Mayol, abbot of Cluny, a character whose legend relates that he made a miraculous fountain spring up, on the left in the Saint-Mayol rise, giving sight to a blind man.
