ÎLETS DU FRANCOIS
We reach it via the Chopotte descent. The bay of Robert appears, magnificent in its emerald attire. Its coastline, as if jagged by an invisible hand, unashamedly offers pilgrims the unspeakable spectacle of a string of islets... Located to the east of the island, the islets of Le François are very popular with tourists. There are eight of them: îlet Frégate, îlet Lapin, îlet Lavigne, îlet Long, îlet Métrente (also known as îlet Anonyme), îlet Oscar, îlet Pelé and îlet Thierry. These are ideal destinations for day trips by boat. Many excursions leave from the commune. Competition between boats is fierce. The program remains the same for all: swimming in the white depths, where rum flows freely, lunch on the islets, water sports... It's above all the atmosphere on board that sets them apart. The initiator of this excursion is Albert Mongin.
Among the most famous of these white bottoms is, of course, the famous Baignoire de Joséphine (Josephine's Bathtub), where you'll be swimming (and you won't be alone) in water as transparent as your navel. To reach the islets, there are many options: by yawl (the best way in our opinion), by boat (the most comfortable way), with a fisherman (the safest way), by speedboat, with a guide, by catamaran or even by kayak. Be aware that these islands are subject to a protection decree and specific regulations aimed at preserving the flora and fauna of these ecosystems, some of which are considered very rare.
