Boat rental without licence

For a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children under 10 years old, easy to handle, our small boats without licence 6 HP will allow you to enjoy good moments at sea, for half a day or a day.

Steering wheel, bimini for shade from the sun, swim ladder, equipment and safety vests for adults and children ... we offer two types of boats without license, fully equipped :

Two Whaly 370 of 3.7 meters by 1.73 meters
A Rigiflex Cap 400 Console of 4 meters by 1.9 meters

You will not need to load up for your trip: for more comfort, we offer you the option of a cooler, fishing rods, snorkel kits and waterproof bags.

On the day of your departure, the first step will be to sign the rental contract, as well as to hand over a 700€ deposit check.

Then, we will give you a complete briefing on the safety rules, the boat's operation, the different nice places to discover from the bat cave to the Anse Chaudière, and the journey times, so that you can leave with peace of mind and enjoy your rental without any worries.

As a bonus, we will give you a map of the route before letting you go for your half or full day excursion. The wild coast of Anses d'Arlet is yours, with its turtles, tropical fish and rocks teeming with coral, its seaweed and its rich marine life, and above all its unusual little coves which you can enjoy in complete peace!

Diving in Martinique

Diving in Martinique means having the chance to observe turtles, to see dolphins and to swim in the middle of kingfish, moray eels, groupers, trunk fish, lobsters, jacks, sea urchins, gorettes, jellyfish, rays, starfish and many others.

It is also an opportunity to observe the potato or tubular coral and many sponges or to have a thrill by descending to more than 30 meters, swimming over faults or passing under a natural underwater vault. With a tank or snorkeling, this is a new face of the island not to be missed.

Perhaps you are wondering if there are sharks in Martinique? There are, but they have hardly ever been seen near the coast or in shallow waters. They are mainly lemon, tiger, sleeper, black tip or bulldog sharks. Note: no attacks have been reported in Martinique and this is just as rare in the Lesser Antilles in general.

What is the best time to dive in Martinique?

Except during the cyclonic or rainy period, i.e. from August to November, when the risk of cyclonic and tropical waves can lead to milky seas because of the rain during this period, it is possible to dive in Martinique most of the year. The water temperature is always pleasant, between 26 and 28°!

Where to dive in Martinique: the best spots

Vertiginous drop offs, rocky scree populated with a rich underwater fauna, wreck cemeteries, submerged statues... Martinique is full of diving spots with spectacular sceneries and atmospheres. There are about twenty diving spots to discover, with or without tank, concentrated on the Caribbean coast of the island, and literally from North to South, from Prêcheur to Sainte-Anne.

Among the most famous dive sites in Martinique: the Perle rock in Prêcheur, the wreck cemetery in the bay of Saint-Pierre, the Diamond rock, the Burgos point or the Nahoon wreck in Cape Solomon.

For snorkeling, the spots of Anse Dufour and Anse Noire are particularly famous, but all the beaches of the island are potentially an opportunity to observe the tropical underwater fauna. Even more unusual is the Manman Dlo snorkeling site in Saint-Pierre, made up of gigantic submerged concrete statues.

Because of the sometimes great depths and marine currents in Martinique, it is recommended to go diving with the supervision of a club, to be able to enjoy it safely.

Diving in Martinique with Nautitan

Take your first dive with Nautitan

Nautitan offers you the opportunity to spend your first dive (7 meters deep) in Martinique with its experienced instructors who will guide you and reassure you for your first strokes of the fins. And if you would like to repeat the experience, we can transform your baptism into a diploma (PE12: 3 dives) allowing you to descend to 12 meters with an instructor. You will be able to dive in exploration in any club at 12 meters with an instructor at a preferential rate.

How to use the equipment, what safety rules to follow, how to breathe with the regulator, what are the signs of communication underwater: our qualified and attentive instructors will give you all the necessary information before you make your first accompanied dive, each in turn, to a maximum depth of 6 meters.

It is possible to take the first dive from 8 years old! In this case, the depth will be adapted to 2 meters until 10 years old and to 3 meters until 14 years old.

Note: a medical certificate is not necessary to take the first dive

Training from level 1 to level 3 at Nautitan

We also offer FFESSM/CMAS level 1 to 3 courses, as well as a diving course for children (8-12 years old). With Nautitan, you will also be able to do the supervised diving courses, PE 12m, PE 20m and PE 40m.

The level 1 will allow you to dive accompanied up to 20 meters or up to 12 meters in an autonomous way, while learning to manage your equipment and your level of immersion. 5 dives are necessary to obtain it.

You will be able to dive alone up to 20 meters with your level 2 and up to 40 meters with a guide. This training of 8 dives will enable you in particular to control the underwater orientation, to manage the autonomy in air of the bottles, as well as the treatment of the incidents in diving.

With the level 3 and the notions acquired with the previous levels, you will be able to dive in autonomy until 60 meters.

Light training with the different PE's will allow you in a short time to obtain a certification to descend to the indicated depth of the PE with an instructor in all diving clubs.

What if you tried night diving?

Among the explorations proposed by Nautitan, night diving will delight the lovers of unusual experience. By diving at night, you can discover and rediscover the abundant underwater life of Martinique from a new angle. Some species prefer to evolve in the dark and some phenomena occur only at night, the night dive is really worth the detour.

When do you need a boat license in Martinique ?

Are you planning to drive a motorboat of more than 6 HP (4.5 kilowatts of power)? The pleasure boat license is then mandatory! It is also required to drive a jet-ski or a water scooter of more than 6 hp without supervision.

However,

the

boating licence is not necessary to drive a sailing boat or a mixed boat, that is to say, a sailboat and a motorboat, although it can be requested for the rental of a sailboat

With

boating licence you can rent the Excess 26, Bayliner VR6, Quicksilver 605 and Quicksilver 505 boats in the Nautitan fleet. Nautitan

What are the penalties in case of infringement ?

In case of control, not having a boat license exposes you to a fine of 1 500€ and a potential immobilization of the boat. You will also have to pay a fine of 38€ if you have a licence but do not have it with you.

Note: having a boating licence allows you to leave the wheel to people on board who do not have one, under your supervision! To

do this, several conditions must be met: on the one hand, the person without a licence must be at least 16 years old; on the other hand, the holder of the licence must have held it for at least 3 years and have made a declaration of accompanied driving

Otherwise

, the fine will be 150€ if no declaration is made to the Maritime Affairs Department, and 1500€ if the licence is less than 3 years old.

the boat licence may be withdrawn in the event of excessive speed, serious carelessness, drunk driving and, of course, failure to respect the navigation code. You will then have to wait 3 months before you can take your boating license again.

boat license to drive in Martinique?

As navigation is mainly done at sea in Martinique, you will have to take the coastal license. The coastal licence allows you to sail up to 6 miles - or 11km - from a land shelter, day and night, without any limit on engine power and for a boat of maximum 20 metres in length. It is however possible to practice accompanied driving under the age of 16, provided that the accompanying person has had his or her licence for more than 3 years and has made a request for authorisation by name to the Maritime Affairs. It

is even possible to drive a motorboat from the age of 14, but only as part of a sporting activity supervised by an instructor

????What do the tests for the boat licence consist of?

The passage of the boat license is subject to two types of assessment: A

theoretical assessment in the form of MCQs. It is then a question of answering 30 questions within an hour with 5 mistakes maximum accepted. For this, 10 hours of theoretical training will be offered to you, in order to pass the coastal licence with peace of mind. A

practical evaluation to validate the theoretical knowledge

The student must complete at least 3 hours of practical training on our boat, which are evaluated progressively by the trainer.

Half-day excursion in the South, typical itinerary

Lasting 3h30, our half-day excursion with skipper starts with a dip in the sea at Rocher du Diamant, sea conditions permitting, followed by a visit to the bat cave, snorkeling at Point Y in Anse Dufour, a towed snorkeling session at Grande Anse to meet the turtles and a stop at Crique Abricot and its superb colorful basalt cliffs, for a final snorkeling session in the turquoise waters of Anses d'Arlet.

Typical day trip along the coast

For a full-day trip, we suggest heading up to Saint-Pierre for a chance to see dolphins. At lunchtime, we'll anchor at Pointe du Bout, in a small cove facing the ancient amphitheater.
In theafternoon, you can take advantage of our half-day excursion program, with snorkeling, sea bathing and discovering the different natural spots of Anses d'Arlet and Le Diamant.
