BALUARTE DE SANTA ROSA
Baluarte built at the end of the eighteenth century that was the second to be established to protect the city from pirate attacks.
Named after the first saint of the Americas, Santa Rosa de Lima, the baluarte was built at the end of the 18th century and was the second to be established to protect the city from pirate attacks. Originally intended to house troops and store ammunition, it later served a variety of functions: accommodation for the most precarious, storage of archaeological artefacts or a tourist information point. Today, it houses the Campeche Pinacoteca, where works and paintings by local artists are exhibited.
