ZONA ARQUEOLÓGICA DE MAYAPÁN
A site whose main building, the Castillo de Kukulcan, is a small-scale replica of the pyramid of Itza in Mayapan.
The architecture of the site seems to have been totally influenced by the city of Chichen Itzá, although after its fall it developed its own style. The main building, the Castillo de Kukulcán, is a small-scale replica of the Pyramid of Itzá. The usual Central Plaza groups together the civic, administrative, religious and residential buildings of the ruling classes: built on foundations, its corridors are supported by columns, temples and oratories.
