Historic site with high walls topped by terraces with stands reserved for the city's high dignitaries

There are 13 ball games on the entire site. This one is the largest in all of Mesoamerica. In the shape of a "I", it has very high walls topped with bleachers with at both ends, stands reserved for the high dignitaries of the city. Organized to implore and honor the gods, the games were sacred. The game consisted of passing a rubber ball through a ring attached to one of the two walls of the field. The two teams of 7 players had to score a certain number of points using only their hips or elbows.

Le plus grand jeu de Pelote jamais retrouvé. Bordé de serpents et de sculpture, il est impressionnant.

Jeu de pelote à Chichen Itza
Ce terrain de jeu de pelote est non seulement le plus grand de la péninsule mais aussi celui qui conserve de magnifique bas-reliefs qui fournissent des indications intéressantes sur la culture maya.

Ancien édifice de la zone archéologique de Chichen Itza où se déroulait auparavant les "jeux de balles". Les anneaux sont toujours visibles en hauteur sur les murs.
