TIME OF WAR
Temple built on a pyramidal base, whose entrance is framed by two sculpted pillars representing the god of rain
The Temple of the Jaguar Warriors is built on a pyramidal base, whose entrance is framed by two carved pillars representing the god of rain, Chac-Mool, and two snake heads. On the bas-reliefs are jaguars, eagles and warriors devouring human hearts. The interior is not open to the public, but beautiful frescoes decorate its walls. Adjacent to this building, another temple known as the Group of a Thousand Columns can be identified by its 200 or so stone pillars, each carved in the shape of a feathered serpent.
