HACIENDA MUNDACA
Hacienda built by the pirate and slave trader Fermin Antonio Mundaca de Marechaga to seduce a woman in Isla Mujeres
Built by the pirate and slave trader Fermín Antonio Mundaca de Marechaga to seduce a woman nicknamed la Trigueña (the brunette), with whom he fell madly in love, but to no avail: legend has it that he went mad and died in the solitude of his immense property. The main attraction here is the large gardens, scattered with various small arches separating the different areas; the house itself, of disconcerting simplicity, is of little interest. Closed for the past 10 years, it may partially reopen to the public in 2025.
