An archaeological site composed of several platforms of stones with columns, located on the mainland opposite Isla Mujeres
Located on the mainland, in front of Isla Mujeres, it is an archaeological site composed of several stone platforms with columns. Although the site is small, the top of the Castillo, a 12.5 m high pyramid, offers a breathtaking view of Cancún and its surroundings. The first ruins date back to the beginning of the classical period; then the site becomes important in the wake of Cobá, for its strategic position on the maritime routes. It controlled the access to Isla Mujeres, an important sanctuary of the late postclassic.
