RECINTO INTERIOR
Interior enclosure located below the Castillo which was part of the sacred space of the architectural complex in Tulum.
Protected by a small wall with three entrances, two on the west side and one on the south side, the Recinto Interior (Innermost Enclosure) is located below the Castillo. It was part of the sacred space of the architectural complex and was one of the most exclusive areas of the city, where the priests, warlords and notables of Tulum met. Today it includes several remains of buildings that served as homes for the city's high dignitaries; an oratory is located in the center of this small square.
