CASA DEL HALACH UINIC
Palace that housed three rooms and a sanctuary, located next to the Casa de las Columnas in Tulum.
Next to the Casa de las Columnas, the Casa del Halach Uinic (the "House of the True Man") is a large palatial building, the residential palace of "Halach Uinic", who was the supreme chief of the "Kuchkabal" of Tulum, the name of an independent Mayan jurisdiction or lordship. This palace housed three rooms and a sanctuary. Above the central entrance, a stucco model depicts a god descending to earth; traces of his original painting can be seen. Iguanas thinking they are kings like to warm themselves under the sun in the corner.
