GREEN AEROSTACIÓN
If you can't fly over the city, which is impossible because of the airport, you can discover the surrounding area taking a hot-air balloon ride.
Located on the western outskirts of Seville, the company was founded in 1973 by a pioneer of ballooning in Spain, Jesús González Green, a former war reporter and the country's first licensed balloonist. Green Aerostación, masterfully managed by the likeable Jesús Glez, the aforementioned man's son, has some twenty balloons operating all over the world (300 flights a year!). Among the fifteen or so feats achieved and listed in the Guinness Book of Records, Green Aerostación already counts the first crossings of the Atlantic from east to west, and then of the Andes. Part of the fleet is used for publicity events, while the other part is used for first flights and sightseeing tours of various spots in Spain and Andalusia: the outskirts of Seville (the city cannot be flown over because of the airport), Doñana, Cordoba, Granada, Antequera, Ronda... Flights take place very early in the morning to avoid thermal currents that would cause the hot-air balloons to climb too much.
With a little apprehension, the Andalusian Fox climbed into one of the wicker gondolas of these balloons (which hold a maximum of 8 passengers), and it's already clear that the experience is an unforgettable one! From the ascent of the balloon, in the company of the experienced team, to the landing ("you know where you're starting from, but you never really know where you're going!"), via the crossing of a significant altitude (around 1,500 m), followed by a low-level flight over a field of sunflowers in bloom, with the unreal impression of floating in complete peace, and then the greetings to an astonished village: a truly wonderful adventure! The morning always ends with the presentation of a flight diploma, washed down with sparkling wine and a breakfast with the participants. All in all, a great time ahead!
