SANTA ANA CHURCH

Built between 1276 and 1280 by Alfonso X, the wise man, who decided to build it after miraculously recovering from an eye disease, this church is probably one of the oldest in Seville. It has been renovated several times, including once by Peter I the Cruel in the first half of the fourteenth century, and has undergone numerous transformations, especially after the earthquake of 1755. Inside, the main altarpiece at the back of the central nave is a magnificent sixteenth-century work that fits the polygonal shape of the apse.
