HOSPITAL DE LOS VENERABLES - VELÁZQUEZ CENTER
Richly decorated baroque chapel with frescoes by Juan and Lucas Valdés on the walls
In the 17th century it was a hospice (designed by Leonardo Figueroa) where priests enjoyed a well-deserved retirement. It contains a richly decorated baroque chapel. Its walls are decorated with frescoes by Juan and Lucas Valdés, and works by Roldán and Montañés. The sacristy is decorated with azulejos, and lovers of Rubens will discover two paintings on copper by the master. Today it is the headquarters of the Focus Cultural Foundation (Centro Velázquez).
