CASTILLO DE SAN JORGE
Space to explore its history: the Almohad period, its reconquest and 300 years as the seat of the Inquisition tribunal.
The 1,400 m² exhibition follows the castle's three major phases: its Almohad period (12th and 13th centuries), its reconquest by the Christians in 1248 and its use as the seat of the Inquisition Court from 1480 to 1785. A model of the old fortifications is on display, as well as the old "barca" gateway, the access point to the boat bridge, the only one linking Seville and Triana, and various remains, including fortifications and prison cells. The Inquisition is also dealt with through a fictional account and a gallery of persecuted characters. The space can also be used for temporary exhibitions.
