MUSEUM OF FOLK ARTS AND CUSTOMS
Museum in the Mudéjar pavilion, which presents the Andalusian way of life, having evolved through the ages
Located in the Mudéjar pavilion (dating from 1929), a regionalist work by Aníbal González, this museum moved here in 1972. Its main aim is to provide a historical overview of Andalusian lifestyles as they have evolved over the ages. In Room I, you'll discover a curious collection of ancient costumes, worn either for traditional celebrations (notably by the seises, the young boys dancing in the cathedral), or for everyday life. Instruments are also on display, and the tour continues with a musical backdrop. Also of interest are pieces of goldsmith's and silversmith's art, ceramics, and a reconstructed feria "hut" with 18th- and 19th-century folk furnishings. Don't miss the labyrinthine rooms in the basement, which offer a fascinating insight into craftsmanship. On the first floor, which also hosts temporary exhibitions, you'll discover an important Díaz Vásquez donation of embroidery and lace.
