Street that housed a prison where Cervantes wrote the beginning of Don Quixote

The locals like to stroll along it. This street, today lined with cafés and shops (mostly international brands) owes its name to a legend according to which a monstrous snake swallowed children at the end of the 15th century. Sierpes Street was also the site of a prison (on the site of today's Banco Hispano-Americano) where Cervantes wrote the beginning of Don Quixote and from which Carmen escaped with the help of a brigadier, Don José. During Holy Week, all the processions take this street.

very lively street, where for October 1st with 38° standing we could very eat and drink on terraces acceuillante
