PLAZA DOÑA ELVIRA
Well-known romantic square where a theater was located in Seville
This well-known romantic square deserves its reputation, as it is surely one of the prettiest squares in the neighbourhood. In the 17th century it housed a theatre, but its current shape is the result of the redevelopment of the neighbourhood that took place from 1911 to 1918, under the direction of Juan Talavera y Heredia, the city's architect. Decorated with azulejos and lined with orange trees, it is the symbol par excellence of the Santa Cruz neighbourhood. On nights when the moon is full, it is reflected on the tiles and in the water of the fountain. A delightful sight.
