Popular suburb populated by the working class and also known as Barrio de los tereros
It was a popular suburb populated by the working class and also known as the "Barrio de los tereros" (bullfighters' neighborhood) because many bullfighters were born here, including Pepe Luis Vázquez, Manolo Vázquez and José Rivas Rodríguez, Moreno Chico de San Bernardo. The church of San Bernado, a mixture of Baroque and Neoclassic, is worth mentioning. And its bridge, one of the most singular regionalist constructions of the city, which was built by the engineer José Luis de Casso Romero and the architect Juan Talavera.
