CERAMIC CENTER OF TRIANA
A place that has undergone a meticulous rehabilitation work to preserve the original elements
Opened in 2015, its function is to preserve the memory of the last ceramic factories still in operation until recently, and with this in mind it is located in one of these former factories, Santa Ana, a place that has undergone meticulous rehabilitation work aimed at preserving the original elements while creating new spaces to enable a better understanding of them. On the first floor, near the visitor reception area, you'll find various kilns used by the potters, some of which date back to the 16th century, and then follow the entire creative process, from the clay deposit to the ceramic painting tables, including the well, the mills and the almágenas, containers used to carefully store pigments. Along the way, informative panels and videos present the processes involved, as well as interviews with potters.
The second floor houses a permanent exhibition featuring works from other museums in the city, such as the Museo Arqueológico and the Museo de Artes y Traditions Populares, as well as private loans, including some pieces from the Pickman factory. In all, it follows the evolution of this craft from the 12th to the 20th centuries, from the Almohad era to the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929, the high point of the industry.
