Tour of the city to appreciate the beautiful facade of the Santaella Palace, work of the first third of the eighteenth century
The historical part of the city is easily visited on foot, with the Plaza de España as the central point and starting point for many discoveries. The visit should of course include the Benamejí Palace, which can be reached from the Plaza de España by walking down Calle Cintería, in order to rediscover the city's historical memory and to see the famous wounded Amazon in this early 18th century palace. Not far away, we recommend that you go and appreciate the beautiful façade of the Santaella Palace, a work from the first third of the 18th century, on Calle Ignacio de Soto. Also from the Plaza de España, Jesús Sin Soga Street and Emilio Castelar Street, on the left, lead to the Peñaflor Palace (no. 26). Almost opposite, you will find the Palacio de Vadehermoso (Vadehermoso Palace) with its beautiful Renaissance façade, and then along Calle Arcipestre Aparicio you will come to the small plaza of San Juan, where you will find the church of the same name, with its beautiful white Baroque tower (17th century), which is one of the most emblematic of Ecija's historic complex. Nearby, the streets of Pacheco, Santo Domingo and Almonas lead to the Plaza de la Virgen del Valle, where the church of Santa Cruz stands with its Renaissance tower that dominates the city's skyline. On leaving this church, you can visit the Palacio de los Palmas just opposite. A little further away from this centre and on the other side of the Plaza de España, the Church of the Descalzos, a little jewel of the Andalusian Baroque, can be reached via the streets Conde and La Marquesa.
